About IP Protection Level

What is an IP rating?

What is the definition of waterproof and dustproof?

International Protection Marking (IEC 60529) is also called Ingress Protection Rating or IP Code. Sometimes also called "waterproof level", "dustproof level", etc., it defines the degree of protection that mechanical and electronic equipment can provide against the intrusion of solid foreign objects (including body parts such as fingers, dust, gravel, etc.), liquid penetration, and accidental contact. Protective ability.

The first number represents solid protection.

The second number represents liquid protection

The first number after IP represents the level of protection against hazardous parts such as solid foreign objects and conductors that come into contact with humans.
The second number after IP in the code rating indicates how well the device is protected from water.

Common examples are that a socket with a nominal IP22 rating can effectively prevent the insertion of fingers without damage, and will not become dangerous due to dripping water in vertical or near-vertical situations. The lowest design standard for this type of indoor socket is IP22 or IP2X. The phone, rated IP67, is completely dustproof and can be submerged in water up to 1m deep. Some tests are independent, and a test with a higher number may not replace a test with a lower number. For example, a mobile phone rated IPX7 can be put into water up to 1m deep, but it may not be able to withstand high-pressure water columns (IPX6).
